Zhiqi (知栖, “the App”) is a private read-later app. It does not require an account. The developer does not collect, store, or have access to your reading content, except for feedback emails you choose to send (see Contact us).
Data we do not collect
- The App has no account system and never asks for your name, email address, or phone number.
- The App contains no advertising, analytics, or tracking tools, and does not track you across other apps or websites.
- The articles you save, your reading progress, highlights, notes, categories, and tags are never sent to the developer.
Where your data is stored
- By default, everything stays on your device, stored as article packages in an open format that you can browse in the Files app under On My iPhone › Zhiqi › 资料库.
- If you turn on sync, your content is stored in a location you choose: your private iCloud storage, a WebDAV server or NAS you configure, S3-compatible storage, or a folder you pick. These locations are managed by you or by the provider you choose; the developer cannot access them.
- Passwords and keys for sync, storage, and model services are stored in the system Keychain.
What happens when the App goes online
- When you save a link, the App downloads the article text and images directly from the original website on your device. Nothing passes through the developer’s servers.
- RSS / Atom feeds you subscribe to are fetched directly by your device when you open the App and more than an hour has passed since the last refresh.
- As with any browser, the original websites, image servers, and feed providers can see requests coming from your device (for example, your IP address).
- Automatic categorization, keyword indexing, and on-device summaries happen on your device. On-device summaries use Apple’s on-device model, and the content never leaves your device.
Model services you configure (optional)
- The App sends content to a model service only after you enter its address and key under Settings › AI Service and turn on the corresponding feature. Requests go directly from your device to that service, not through the developer’s servers.
- What is sent follows the “sending scope” you choose: only the title, source, excerpt, and headings, or, if you allow it, the article text (only the beginning when it is long). Article Q&A and summaries ask for your permission before sending.
- How that content is handled is governed by the privacy policy of the service provider you choose.
In-app purchases
- Zhiqi Pro is purchased through the App Store, and payment is handled by Apple. The developer never receives your payment details or sees your Apple Account.
- The App checks your purchase status with the App Store on your device to unlock Pro features and restore purchases; this does not go through the developer’s servers.
- Apple provides the developer with sales reports that do not identify you.
Share extension and Safari extension
The extensions read the current web page only when you tap Save, and store it in the App on your device. They never read the pages you browse in the background.
System permissions
- Add to Photos: used when you choose to save an image from an article to your photo library.
- Local Network: used to connect to a NAS, WebDAV server, or self-hosted model service on your local network.
Crash reports
The App itself does not collect crash or usage data. If you agree in system settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may provide the developer with crash reports that do not identify you.
Deleting your data
- In Settings › Local Storage, you can delete all article data on this device; with sync turned on, you can also delete it from all your devices.
- When turning off iCloud sync, you can choose to delete the data stored in iCloud as well.
- Deleting the App deletes all data stored on your device.
Children
The App is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and mention it in the App’s release notes.
Contact us
If you have any questions about this policy or your data, email e7coding.apple@gmail.com, or use Settings › Send Feedback in the App.
When you email us, the developer sees your email address and the content of your message. Feedback sent from within the App automatically includes the App version and system version in the subject line to help diagnose issues. This information is used only to reply to you, for no other purpose, and is never shared with third parties.
